The idea behind the site
Most financial decisions are made under uncertainty. A useful tool should not hide that uncertainty behind one impressive-looking number. It should make assumptions visible, show a range of outcomes, and help a person understand which levers are actually controllable.
The calculators on this site run in the browser, require no account, and are designed to encourage questions rather than replace judgement.
Principles
- Learn continuously. Small improvements compound in knowledge as well as capital.
- Act consistently. Repeatable behaviour usually matters more than heroic forecasts.
- Design for resilience. Avoid ruin, preserve options, and leave room to adapt.
- Explain the assumptions. A model is useful only when its boundaries are visible.
Elsewhere
Kiran also publishes video and written work on learning, investing, and practical decision-making.
